At The Table With: Taylor Elyse Morrison
3 questions for the writer, coach, and founder of Inner Workout
I’m excited to introduce you to this month’s At The Table With guest: Taylor Elyse Morrison! Taylor is the founder of Inner Workout, a media company focused on building the skills it takes to care for oneself with intention. Inner Workout offers resources, practices, and products that help the members of their community become experts of their own well-being.
I was introduced to Taylor and her work by way of a Zoom workshop in June 2020. The workshop was focused on healing and I remember noting how thoughtful Taylor’s approach was — instead of coming to it with a goal to escape (like so much of the wellness world has), Taylor invited us to hold space for our feelings. I’m continuously so in awe of Taylor’s perspective — we even made a few products together while I was at ban.do about navigating one’s inner dialogue and I learned a TON in the process (and then I left in the middle of the project…sorry Taylor!!!)
So! When her book Inner Workout (!!!) came out last month you can imagine how excited I was to dig in. I read it in one go — it’s a poignant look at wellness from many angles and offers practices that question our ingrained habits and thought patterns. I’ve already revisited the “Practices For Accepting Your Body” section a couple of times, which has supported me as I try to unlearn some of my closely held beliefs and relearn how to talk to and care for myself in a nurturing and sustainable way.
I asked Taylor 3 questions:
Ali LaBelle: Imagine perfect happiness. What does it smell, taste, feel and sound like?
Taylor Elyse Morrison: Perfect happiness is a Friday night on my comfiest coach, nibbling on fresh-baked sugar cookies and playing a game of chess on my phone with Abbott Elementary in the background.
AL: Give us a rec!
TEM: I'm obsessed with the MyMind app. It's kind of like a personal Pinterest that *automagically* organizes your saves based on content and visual themes. It's become my one source of truth to house everything from my content ideas to potential gifts for loved ones to recipes.
AL: It’s a table for two and your dinner date can be anyone dead or alive. Who do you invite?
TEM: My paternal grandmother. She passed away before I was born. The more I come into my own as a woman, the more I wish I'd had a chance to meet her.
Thank you so much to Taylor for being here (“here” being this newsletter and also “here” on Earth.) I encourage anyone who is looking for some support in prioritizing their own well-being to grab a copy of Inner Workout here — it really is so insightful. And follow Taylor on Instagram here to get a peek into her coaching work, running and growing her businesses, and her own wellness practice.
