Plus One is a brand new column where we’ll be tagging along with some of the best people with the best recs in town. Think of it like a highly specific city guide!
My first Plus One guest is Harling Ross Anton, brand consultant, person with style, and writer behind my favorite fashion Substack,
. I don’t say this about just anyone, but Harling has the best taste—yes, in what she wears, but even more so in how she wears it. Harling’s point of view feels uniquely hers and trickles down to what she has in her home, how she dresses her kid, what brands she shops… Case in point: Harling just recently launched a collection of floaty, vintage-inspired nightgowns in collaboration with If Only If Nightwear, one of many small, independent brands she’s introduced her readers to. Somehow, Harling just knows where to get the good stuff.Which is why I wanted to ask Harling to be my very first Plus One (or, for us to be her plus one, I guess)! I had a feeling that tagging along to her favorite Upper East Side spots would yield some recs I’d want to note for my next New York jaunt, and I was absolutely right. Below you’ll find ten of Harling’s favorite places, plus a little map I made for you to use as you bop around town.
So without further ado…
Harling’s favorite spot for breakfast: “Table D’Hote (a teeny tiny French restaurant on 92nd street) doesn’t open until late morning, but they make a breakfast I never get tired of. They call it the ‘Roland Garros’ and it consists of two fried eggs, an English muffin, half an avocado, crispy French fries, and a small side salad.”
Harling’s favorite flower shop: “I have yet to be disappointed by the bodega flower selection at Annie’s Fruit & Vegetable on Lexington Avenue.”
