Last week I wrote about how I’m leaning into my slump era. It’s absolutely freezing right now (well, 58*F) and I’m writing this from the corner of my sofa, the cushions of which I’ve burrowed so deep into that you might not even be able to find me ever again. I had soup for lunch and will have soup for dinner.
The other day I was on the phone with my sister and she asked what I was doing. “Just sitting in my apartment,” I said. “I never want to leave.” She said she was doing the same, and we laughed at the split screen image of us each sitting in our living rooms while we each gaze lovingly around our respective homes. “I don’t know why anyone would ever want to do anything else,” I sighed.
Part of me wonders, am I okay? because there have certainly been times in the past where the answer would be maybe not. But I AM okay—great, actually! For me, not having outside activities on the schedule is not “not having plans” at all; being home is a plan in and of itself. And yes, it can feel a little blah to blob around the house for too long, and even the homebodiest of us homebodies need to and should see our friends and absorb sunlight and move around a bit. But like I said last week, I’ve decided to just embrace it and make this phase I’m in a nice one.
This week’s Side Order is a round up of 36 items that will do just that. From soft things to wear and wrap yourself in to objects you’ll want in arm’s reach from the sofa and more, these are the things I have (or wish I had) in my Slump Era Survival Kit.
