About À La Carte
I’m Ali LaBelle, a creative director and founder of a design studio in Los Angeles. My work takes me all over the world of inspiration, whether I’m developing a brand for a new client or researching centuries-old Italian frescos for fun. Peek at my website here and my alter ego, Pasta Girlfriend, here.
What is À La Carte?
À La Carte is a place to explore the ways we can live a life of creative abundance. I often write about exercises for creativity, art and design, developing a personal style, and pretty much anything that makes up my own little world of inspiration.
This newsletter is structured sort of like a magazine and each month I write a variety of different columns. Everyone’s favorite is Notes Of, where I pick a theme and build a mood board (the old fashioned way, by hand!) around that theme. Another favorite, Side Order, is a themed shopping round-up that includes products from small brands and businesses I love, vintage finds, and items from all over the world. This is where I put my window shopping to good use.
You’ll also find things like interviews with people whose imaginations I want to crawl into, link curations, FAQ posts, and more.
What do I get if I’m a free subscriber?
You’ll receive two À La Carte newsletters a month: a monthly Sample Platter and an interview post. You’ll also receive peeks of content that goes out to paid subscribers here and there!
What do I get if I’m a paid subscriber?
You’ll get 6-7 newsletters and gain weekly access to a variety of things:
Mood board posts (everyone’s favorite!)
Themed shopping round ups (everyone’s other favorite!) featuring brands, artists, and vintage shops I hunt down
Tips on staying creative, finding inspiration, and building a personal brand
Things I recommend, including but not limited to recipes, pasta shapes, skincare, books, sweatpants, podcasts, other newsletters, perfect white t-shirts, and wines
Artists whose work I love: painters, designers, illustrators, photographers, illustrators…
And more. :)
À La Carte may occasionally include affiliate links if I’m recommending a product I love, but I’m a real stickler about never promoting anything I don’t genuinely use and think is great.
And lastly, each quarter I choose an organization to send a portion of paid subscriber proceeds to. If you are ever curious as to why I chose any of these organizations, please reach out.
Thanks for being here!
Ali
